Answers, kept concise

Frequently asked questions.

What linkshrtn does, how your links behave, and where the boundaries are.

What is linkshrtn?

linkshrtn is a lightweight URL management service. It turns long HTTP or HTTPS destinations into short links and provides QR codes, access controls, organization, and click analytics.

Are links permanent?

Links stay available while they are active and your account remains in good standing. You can also choose an expiry date or maximum click count, and administrators may disable abusive links.

Can I customize my short URL?

Yes. Choose a unique 3–48 character alias using letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores. Application routes and existing aliases are reserved.

Can I track clicks?

Yes. The dashboard shows click totals, privacy-conscious unique visitor estimates, daily trends, referrers, browsers, devices, and operating systems.

Can I protect a link with a password?

Yes. Set or remove a link password when creating or editing a link. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes.

Can I create QR codes?

Yes. A scannable SVG QR code is generated locally for each short link and can be downloaded.

Can I deactivate a link?

Yes. You can pause or reactivate any link from the Links page without deleting its configuration or analytics.

What types of links are prohibited?

Phishing, malware, fraud, credential theft, illegal content, spam campaigns, deceptive redirects, and attempts to bypass security controls are prohibited.

Do I need a credit card?

No. The available service is free and no payment functionality is present in this release.
